GLEN ELYNN, Ill -- Two couples at the Brookdale Senior Living Center in Glen Ellyn have been together for over 60 years and their love stories seem to be right out of a Hollywood movie.
Len and Marilyn Schaller still look at each other and laugh the way they did when they first met in 1957.
"It was a blind date the first time, and it didn’t take long to get a second date," Marilyn said.
The couple raised three children and have watched their family grow over the years. They now have five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Len and Marilyn traveled the world together, but have recently started to call the Brookdale Senior Living Center in Glen Ellyn home.
And they aren't the only residents at the Brookdale Senior Living Center with a romantic love story.
Jim, from Springfield, and Camilla Manzella, from Rome, first met on vacation in Sicily in the 1950s.
"My father when he came to ask for my hand in marriage he said 'Jim I like you but she’s too young, go back to America and come back in 5 years and we’ll talk," Camilla said.
Jim decided to stay and waited seven months for Camilla. The Manzella's tied the knot 67 years ago and raised their family in Springfield, but made sure to visit Italy often.
They say balance, affection, and the age old advise of never going to bed angry has made their marriage successful after all of these years.
