CHICAGO — The dramatic rescue of Israel hostages in Gaza is giving new hope for two families.
But amid the relief, there is growing outrage over the deaths of more Palestinians killed in the overnight raid.
"My father Leo was abducted on Oct. 7 by Hamas since then we have no sign of life from him," Bar Rudaeff said.
Yaniv Yakov has had no communication with his older brother.
"He said 'They're in the house,' you could hear it in the WhatsApp message," Yaniv said. "He was shot in the leg."
The men shared their stories at Renew Chicago, where there is a connection to two hostages rescued by Israeli forces overnight.
The raid killed 67 Palestinians.
Fernando Simon Marman, 60, and Louis Har, 70, were being held in a residential building in the southern border town of Rafah.
On Monday in Federal Plaza, supporters of Palestine rallied for a cease-fire.
Relatives of hostages said they're hopeful for peace and a deal that will reunite these families.
"We're just focused on brining him back, finding new ways to put pressure on Hamas and the Israeli government to sit down and get us our loved ones back home," Bar said.
