PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (WFLA) — A Pinellas Park neighborhood said a man who went on a late-night rampage, naked and destructive, is lucky to be alive after neighbors said they were ready to defend their homes.

Video captured from a neighbor’s backyard shows the man walking through yards, exposing himself.

“I was asleep, and the doorbell rang, and I answered the door," neighbor David Dale said. "Opened the door and there was a guy standing there, and he was stark naked."

Police identified the suspect as Joshua Garrison. Neighbors told News Channel 8 he caused significant damage to their homes and cars.

“He threw a pot of plants through my truck window and tore the lights off the front of my house,” Dale said.

Surveillance video showed Garrison trying to get inside another home.

“He pulled this screen out, laid it down, attempted to get the window open, and then he goes back here,” a neighbor said.

Neighbor Tim Reischmann said Garrison ran into his backyard, touched himself in a sexual manner, then tried to break in.

“He went into my shed, grabbed an ax and came back on my porch," Reischmann said. "We don’t know why he didn’t use it."

He added that the man jumped over a six-foot fence using a woodpile and helped himself to a drink.

“We see him grabbing a bottle of beer and a can of soda,” Reischmann said.

Neighbors said the situation could have turned deadly.

“We are all Second Amendment people here in Pinellas Park; we will shoot you,” one neighbor said. “He got lucky we didn’t wake up.”

Police said Garrison faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief and lewd behavior.
