CLEVELAND (WJW) – A member of the U.S. Marshals Task Force is recovering after being shot while serving a warrant Wednesday morning in Cleveland.

Law enforcement officers were serving a warrant for a man wanted for a violent crime at about 9 a.m. near East 92nd Street and Hillock Avenue, the I-Team reported.

A source told the FOX 8 I-Team law enforcement was serving a warrant on a man wanted for a felony charge. Following the shooting, the suspect holed up in an apartment, according to FOX 8 crews on the scene.

Following a multi-hour standoff, the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect has not been identified.

The crime scene stretches for multiple blocks, according to FOX 8’s Tino Bovenzi.

“The level of violence we’re seeing across our city, our country is outrageous. And somehow, we got to figure out collectively as a society. How do we deal with this?” Cleveland Ward 8 councilperson Michael Polensek told FOX 8 News.
