Prince William will be among the mourners attending the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday.
Kensington Palace confirmed that the 42-year-old member of Britain's royal family will attend the Vatican City funeral on behalf of King Charles III, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.
The heir to the British throne has traditionally represented the monarch at funerals, according to Vanity Fair.
Charles paid tribute to Francis in a Monday social media post, saying the pope would be "remembered for his compassion, his concern for the unity of the Church and for his tireless commitment to the common causes of all people of faith, and to those of goodwill who work for the benefit of others."
