ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA/NEXSTAR) – A Delta flight was evacuated at a Florida airport on Monday after an engine caught fire, officials with the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The incident took place just after 11 a.m. local time at the Orlando International Airport, according to the FAA. The plane, an Airbus A330, was leaving the gate while preparing to depart for Atlanta when the fire broke out, the agency said.

The flames were first observed coming from a tailpipe, Delta said. There were no initial reports of injuries, according to the airline.

Video of the fire was shared to social media shortly after the incident by X user Dylan Wallace. In the footage, flames and billowing smoke could be seen emanating from the aircraft.

"There's obviously people on that plane," a voice can be heard saying in one of the videos. "There's never anybody not on a plane."

Wallace shared two other videos which appeared to show passengers deplaning via inflatable slides.

The FAA is launching an investigation, the agency confirmed.

Delta, in a statement shared with Nexstar, apologized for Monday's incident.

"We appreciate our customers' cooperation and apologize for the experience," the statement reads. "Nothing is more important than safety and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations as soon as possible."

A representative for the airline said all 282 passengers on the flight were returned to the terminal, where the airline is making arrangements to fly them to their destinations.
