Activists rally in Washington for March for Life

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - Anti-abortion advocates descended on the nation's capital, braving the snow to attend the annual March for Life rally.

This is their second march since the Supreme Court overturned the ruling that protected the right to an abortion nationwide.

"Were here rain/sleet/snow because we're champions for life," said Brent Leatherwood, President Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission.

Thousands of opponents of abortion rights are braving the snow in Washington, D.C., for the annual March for Life rally, the largest anti-abortion event in the country.

March for Life president Jeanne Mancini called on anti-abortion advocates to support women who have an unplanned pregnancy.

"She needs to know that someone will support her in this act of courage and bravery," said Mancini.

People marched from the National Mall past the Capitol and finished in front of the Supreme Court, the site of contentious abortion rights decisions that have impacted many across the nation.

"We will march until abortion is unthinkable," Mancini said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said, "And every unborn child has a value that is too profound and precious to ignore."

Massachusetts Democratic Congressman Jim McGovern slammed the abortion bill being considered in the House.

"It contains a bunch of completely made-up claims meant to stigmatize abortion," he said.

President Biden says his administration is working to protect abortion rights.
