SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) - Hockey players sweat buckets, perhaps more than any other athletes in any other sport. They are wearing sweaters, after all.

"It's disgusting," said Utah Hockey Club center Liam O'Brien.

Growing up, many players had to keep their gloves, pads and skates out of the house."

"I grew up as one of four kids playing hockey, and and we had one of the smelliest garages," O'Brien said. "It still is smelly. I don't think you could I don't think we were ever able to get rid of the smell."

"I feel like there are some times where I was trying to air my stuff out in the living room and stinking out the whole house," said Utah center Logan Cooley. "So my mom definitely didn't love that part."

Ian Cole's parents found a solution.

"My dad built a hockey room in our basement," said defenseman Ian Cole. "It was like a storage room, but it was like just for hockey stuff. So, it stunk up that room, but it didn't stink up everything else. So he he sequestered our gear in a closet."

Have the players ever stunned themselves when taking off their gear after a game?

"Yeah, quite a few times," said Utah center Michael Carcone. "My five-year-old is playing now, and his gloves, like he's got gross hands now, too."

So who has the smelliest equipment on the team?

"Probably one of the goalies," O'Brien said. "They sweat the most."

"Probably [Connnor] Ingram or [Jusso] Valimaki," added Carcone. "He's just gross."

As for the best smelling gear, O'Brien guessed it had to be 20-year-old center Logan Cooley.

"Probably Cools," O'Brien said. "He doesn't sweat too much. He floats out there on the ice."

"I guess I'll take that as a compliment," Cooley said. "Not to have the smelly gear."
