Jets management turns sights to 2025

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The Jets are a 3 and 8 football team, getting set to host the Seahawks on Sunday. Gone is the head coach. Gone is the general manager. Owner Woody Johnson is running wild.

The 33rd team, a consulting firm, will help Johnson in his search for a new GM and Head Coach for 2025. The questions have surrounded the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

By the Jets' standard, statistically, he has had a decent season. He has thrown for over 24 hundred yards and has 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. When you watch, is he the same player he was 5 years ago? No. He is in his early 40's. But in his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee show today, he said he has not made a decision if he wants to play next season, and if he does, his first option would be with the Jets.

I have no idea what the relationship is between Woody Johnson and Rodgers right now. Do I think Aaron is nursing an injury or two this season, for sure. Would I be open to the idea of bringing him back next season with a stronger coaching staff, and better culture with the idea that he can still play? Call me crazy, but I would bring him back under the right circumstances.

He no longer has the decision-making power that he has had in the last two years. I also think the Jets have talent, but there is no direction and they are poorly coached. The Jets have to find their long-term answer at the quarterback position, that is true.

But don't be so fast to close the door on Rodgers returning in 2025. The Jets could do a lot worse, as we have seen time and time again. He is a prideful player that I would imagine does not want this year to be the last vision football fans have of him as a player.

Until next time New York, I'm Marc Malusis.
