USF, FAU game ends with heated handshake

BOCA RATON, Fla. (WFLA) — The Friday night game between the University of South Florida Bulls and the Florida Atlantic Owls ended in a heated exchange between the two head coaches.

A video shared by Pat Smith on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, shows the moment USF Head Coach Alex Golesh aggressively shook the hand of FAU coach Tom Herman following the Bulls' 44-21 win over the Owls.

  • USF football uses dominating 2nd half to down FAU, 44-21
  • 'Love wins' is the fitting theme for USF's celebration of life of Amir Abdur-Rahim

Golesh never broke stride, briefly acknowledging Herman before walking away, a move that Herman did not take kindly.

Herman can be seen chasing after Golesh to give him a piece of his mind. Golesh never broke his stride, seemingly making a point to ignore Herman, who was eventually pulled away from the confrontation.

The Bulls were playing their third game in Boca Raton in three seasons, but the first against the Owls since their 35-23 victory in 2007.

The Bulls return to Raymond James Stadium next Saturday, Nov. 9, for a Homecoming clash vs. Navy.
