The Summer Olympics are just about to get underway in Paris, and while Los Angeles is still four years away from hosting its own Games, the City of Angels and California as a whole are well represented in France.

Joining the United States Presidential delegation at Friday's Opening Ceremony, led by First Lady Jill Biden, is L.A. Mayor Karen Bass as well as Senator Alex Padilla, an L.A. native.

Casey Wasserman, the chairperson for the 2028 L.A. Games, will also be in attendance.

Bass spoke to KTLA on Friday morning and was impressed by the work put in by the French to host the games.

"This has been a lifetime commitment come to fruition," Bass said.

Bass said she visited with the U.S. women's rugby and track teams Friday morning.

Also among the L.A. representation, in a spectacular way, is from one of the city's biggest athletes. Basketball legend and superstar LeBron James is serving as Team USA's male flag bearer in the Opening Ceremony.

James, 39, is participating in his fourth and likely final Olympic Games, currently plays in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Akron, Ohio native will attempt to help the U.S. men's basketball team earn its fifth-straight Olympic gold medal.

Tennis player Coco Gauff will be Team USA's female flag bearer.

Back on home turf, dozens of Angelenos lined up outside Universal Cinema AMC at Universal Citywalk, where the Opening Ceremony was being shown on IMAX.

"[I] had to get out of the house and living room to come to the big screen to see it," one attendee told KTLA's Erin Myers. "It's going to be quite the experience."
