4S RANCH (KUSI) -- It is Autism Awareness month, and the Elite Tae Kwon Do Academy is opening their hears and doors to those with disabilities.
It all started with one student, Giancarlo Valdez, a 22-year-old who is blind and on the Autism spectrum pushing boundaries in Tae Kwon Do and showing others there are no limitations.
"Sometimes it can be a little challenging, but I can get through it easily," Giancarlo said.
It has been a little over 6 months for Giancarlo but has already gained a lot of discipline and focus that he didn't have before.
"When I first met him I didn't think it was possible to teach," Master Daniel Kim said. "It was a lot of trial and error, but as soon as I got to know him, what he was capable of doing, the natural part of teaching kicked in."
It is a new and beautiful bond, and one Giancarlo, his mother Angie, and Master Kim hope to use to raise awareness to those on the spectrum as well as with other disabilities.
