Moose on the Loose: Yankees should get Blake Snell

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Actions speak louder than words, does it not?

As Yankees Managing General Partner Hal Steinbrenner has said that he hasn't stopped looking for the Yankees to improve, there is a move out there that would significantly improve this Yankees team. If this is indeed an "all-in" season for the Bombers, if they are indeed highly motivated after the embarrassing 82-80 season last year, if this is just a one-year rental of outfielder Juan Soto until he hits free agency in the offseason, then hold nothing back.

They did not go all-in on their bullpen as free agent closer Josh Hader signed with the Astros last month. They have revamped their analytics department this offseason, which will ultimately help lead them to success on the field.

The starting rotation is thin and questionable outside of ace Gerrit Cole. Carlos Rodon, Marcus Stroman, Nestor Cortes and Clarke Schmidt do not exactly scream dominant. The Yankees have had interest in starter and reigning NL Cy Young award winner Blake Snell and they should.

If you truly have not stopped looking for ways to improve, Snell will cost you nothing but money. He has familiarity with the American League East after being a member of the Tampa Bay Rays. In 180 innings last year in San Diego, he pitched to a 2.25 ERA and had 234 strikeouts.

When asked Tuesday, Soto gave a ringing endorsement of his former teammate.

The Yankees are short in their starting rotation, and as they continue to talk and flirt with the idea of signing Snell, they should just get it done. If you are indeed "all-in" on this season, then Snell should be a Yankee before Opening Day. That is what the Yankees of the past would do under George Steinbrenner. That is what they should do now. Go get him Hal.
