Moose on the Loose: Off the Marks

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- How does Nets GM Sean Marks still have a job?

He took over the Brooklyn franchise in 2016. Since then, he has been his fourth head coach. Kenny Atkinson, Steve Nash, Jacque Vaughn and now Kevin Ollie. They have gone 283-325 in the regular season, a .465 winning percentage. They have qualified for the playoffs five times, winning only one 7-game series.

This season has been a disaster; they are 21 and 33 and sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.  During the era of Sean Marks, we all went through the drama and nonsense of Durant, Irving, and Harden, which did not even result in a championship, nor did it get the Nets out of the Knick's shadow when it comes to popularity in this city.

When does winning matter? How many coaches can you run through where the blame starts to fall on the GM who has failed? The report that Marks still stands strongly with Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai is dumbfounding. Based on what?

Look at this Nets roster that he put together for this season. Outside of Mikal Bridges, is there another potential star on the team?

Cam Thomas and Cameron Johnson are nice players but hardly elite. I remember when I was producing Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN. We had Islanders GM Mike Milbury on after he fired Peter Laviolette as head coach after consecutive playoff appearances. Chris bluntly asked Milbury, how do you still have a job?

The same question can clearly be asked for Marks: how does Sean Marks, the man in charge of all basketball decisions, still have a job in Brooklyn?

He is now on his fourth head coach, and the roster has rotted away, not to mention the dumpster fire era of KD and Irving.

Everyone should have someone in their life who loves them, the way Joe Tsai loves Sean Marks because his performance has been dreadful.

Results do matter.

Until next time, New York, I'm Marc Malusis.
