Super Bowl LVIII: the San Francisco 49ers vs the Kansas City Chiefs

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Sunday is Super Bowl LVIII out in Las Vegas.

It will be the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

After all the buildup, the game will finally be here, and it is the final game of the NFL season. For Kansas City, the dynasty tag is on the line as Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes look to win their third Super Bowl together in the last five years and it would be their second straight.

The Chiefs are the example of a team that has evolved as the season has gone along, less big play and more of a grind on offense where they take what the defense gives them, the chiefs defense led by defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has been the mainstay all season, they are a really good group that ranked second in yards allowed per game.

The 49ers are loaded on offense and are led by Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy at quarterback.

For Head Coach Kyle Shanahan, he watched his father Mike win two Super Bowls with the Broncos and now gets a chance to finish the job his 49ers did not after blowing a 10-point fourth-quarter lead in Super Bowl 54 to these same Kansas City Chiefs.

There are so many storylines in this one and you might not have the two best teams playing in the big game on Sunday, but that does not matter.

San Francisco has been trending in the wrong direction the last 6 weeks and must avoid the sluggish start which has been an issue in the playoffs.

The Chiefs on the other hand have shown you the heart and composure of a champion, outlasting the Bills and Ravens the past two weeks.

San Francisco might be the favorite, but the reason the heat is on Kansas City is because they have the best player on the field in quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

For me, I will take the 49ers after all my son Paul is a San Francisco Fan so on Sunday the Malusis household will pulling hard for the Niners.

Until next time New York, I am Marc Malusis.
