Fresno State water polo gearing up for Polo-Palooza

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE) – The Fresno State water polo team begins the 2024 season this weekend. The Bulldogs are the No. 9 team in the country. The 'Dogs were picked to win the Golden Coast Conference for the fourth straight year.

The 'Dogs open the season hosting a Polo-Palooza tournament. Each team competing in the weekend tournament is nationally ranked.

Fresno State returns 11 players from last year's roster, as well as Natalie Benson who is entering her seventh season as head coach.

"I really don't think we've missed a step or missed a beat. The group's been very determined, very focused especially the last few weeks. We're getting together and trying some new things defensively. I think we have some really great balance and much better depth than we had last year which is exciting" said Benson.

Fresno State's first test is taking on No. 13 Michigan on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Aquatics Center.
