Moose on the Loose: Rutgers lands No. 2 pick, Dylan Harper

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Big news on Wednesday in Piscataway, N.J. on Wednesday the Rutgers Scarlet Knights basketball program landed five-star guard Dylan Harper.

Harper, the son of former NBA player Ron Harper, committed to Rutgers and head coach Steve Pickell.

He is the second-ranked recruit in the 2024 class and is a star at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J.

Harper joins 6-foot-8 forward Ace Bailey, who is the third-ranked high-school recruit in the 2024 class. Think about this for a second, Rutgers has the third-ranked recruiting class for next season, behind Duke and Kentucky, two of the bluebloods of college basketball.

Head coach Steve Pickell was hired seven years ago and he has led the program to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 31 years.

First NCAA Tournament win since 1983 and has reached the post-season three years in a row and all of it in the Big 10 conference.

Bailey and Harper represent the highest-rated prospects to join the Scarlet Knights basketball in program history.  Harper will play for the same program that his older brother, Ron Harper Jr. chose to play for Rutgers over Duke and Kansas, just to name a few.

Did NIL money factor into this, of course, it did, after all this is modern college athletics, but I doubt Rutgers had the highest offer.  The Scarlet Knights basketball program has been on the rise and in the last two months, they landed two big-time players that they hope will change the game for Rutgers basketball not only next year but for years to come.

Wednesday was someday on the banks.
