GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — It was an action-packed day of hoops on the first day of the high school basketball season for Grand Valley teams at the annual Warrior Challenge.
Eight teams are in town. Four games each night (Thurs, Fri, Sat).
Game number one was over by quarter one as Grand Junction took control and didn't let up, thrashing Rifle 70 to 23.
Then we had a battle of the Bulldogs as Palisade fell to Moffat County 64 to 53.
Then the home-team Warriors fed off their crowd's energy, cruising past Summit 61 to 36.
Lastly, two really good teams went at in the night capper. But it was the Wildcats of Fruita who had the last laugh, taking down Castle View 52 to 46.
Day one was fun, but day two might be even better. Here is Friday's schedule:
3:30 pm: Castle View (1-1) vs Palisade (0-1)
5 pm: Fruita (1-0) vs Moffat County (1-1)
6:30 pm: Summit (0-1) vs Grand Junction (1-0)
8 pm: Rifle (0-2) vs Central (1-0)
