FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno State football coach Jeff Tedford is "stepping away from his duties," according to a statement published on Friday.

The statement revealed that the Fresno State head coach is stepping away from his duties, effective immediately, citing "personal health concerns."

"The entire Fresno State community sends its thoughts and prayers to Coach Tedford and wish him a speedy recovery," wrote Fresno State Director of Athletics Terry Tumey.

Director of Athletics Terry Tumey revealed that Tim Skipper, assistant head coach and linebackers coach, will serve as acting head coach through the upcoming bowl game.

Fresno State reinforced to YourCentralValley.com that Tedford's announcement is not, at this time, a resignation. College officials added they are not planning a national search to replace Jeff Tedford.
