Fruita Softball is ready to bring home a title

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Tomorrow morning Fruita Wildcats softball will board the bus towards Aurora.

The whole school will send them off as they cross the Rockies with just one goal in mind: a State Championship.

It's still a journey until then. Friday is the first round of 16-team tournament. To win the title, the 8-seed Wildcats will have to beat four teams - and that'll likely include top-seed Columbine.

But they don't care who they play. They play with confidence, and perhaps even some arrogance. Hey, you can't go 21-4 without at least a little cockiness.

Led by the explosive bats of captain Ava Stephens, Bailey Bingham, Lacie Rodabaugh, and Reina Roberts, among others and the arm of ace Chloe Padilla, this team has every right to believe it has what it takes.

Now all that's left to do is prove themselves right, and everyone else wrong.
