Grand Junction offense EXPLODES for 43 points

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — It was just a few months ago that we watched the Grand Junction Tigers get shutout in their first game.

Just two weeks later, the GJ offense struggled again in a loss to Central after only mustering a single touchdown the week prior to Glenwood Springs.

But on that field tonight, this looked like a different Tigers team.

43 points.

And most importantly, their second win of the season.

This Grand Junction team had scored more than 20 points only once all year. They averaged just over 11 points per game coming into the night.

But against a very solid Bear Creek team, Grand Junction showed that they are building something.

Star quarterback and linebacker Will Applegate is only a junior. And it's clear that he is the engine of this team. Applegate was involved in all six touchdowns for the Tigers tonight - finishing with four passing, one rushing, and one fumble returned for a touchdown.

Star wide receivers Mason Anderson (Two TD catches) and Noah Watkins (made big plays all night) also have a year left. In fact, the Tigers have only three seniors on their whole roster.

This team is young... and hungry.

And with Will Applegate cooking like this, and Landon McKee in his BAG calling plays.. sheesh watch out for these Tigers. Not just the rest of this year but next year, too.

Put those shades on, folks. The future is looking bright for the Grand Junction Tigers.
