NEW YORK (PIX11) – Manhattan and Brooklyn residents showed up to the polls this weekend, making them the boroughs with the highest early voting turnout, according to the Board of Elections.
Early voting is shattering previous records this year – nearly 245,000 people have cast ballots ahead of Election Day on Nov. 4.
The top three mayoral candidates spent the weekend making their final pushes for votes. More than 10,000 supporters of Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani packed Forest Hills Stadium on Sunday night for the “New York is not for sale” rally.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders supported Mamdani’s campaign promise to New Yorkers: universal child care, freezing rent and making buses free and fast.
Independent candidate Andrew Cuomo got the backing of Mayor Eric Adams and former Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He was in Queens on Sunday, telling voters that Mamdani’s tax policies will force businesses to leave the city.
Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa spoke at a Sikh temple in Queens, touting public safety. He also participated in early voting on Saturday in Manhattan, casting his own ballot alongside thousands of others.
