SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Early voting for the Nov. 4 special election, which includes the highly contested Proposition 50 for consideration on the ballot, kicked off in California on Monday.
Voters throughout the state will get to vote "yes" or "no" to Prop. 50, the proposed ballot measure that signaled a battle over redrawing congressional district lines in California in response to the partisan redistricting in Texas.

On Monday, the San Diego County Registrar of Voters opened its doors for early voting. Registered voters in San Diego County should have already received, or can expect to receive, a ballot in the mail.
After completing the ballot, there are several return options that voters can choose from. Ballots can either be mailed through the U.S. Postal Service or dropped off at any of the Registrar's official ballot drop boxes located throughout the county. A map of official ballot drop boxes can be found here.
Starting Saturday, Nov. 1, all vote centers will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Nov. 3. Find a complete list of vote centers here.
On the final day of voting, which is Tuesday, Nov. 4, all vote centers, ballot drop boxes and the Registrar's office will have extended hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Aside from the contentious redistricting measure, voters in the City of Poway Council District 2 will see an additional question of whether to recall their elected representative, Tony Blain, on the city council from office.
Blain faces removal from his position following allegations of misconduct.
