(INSIDE CALIFORNIA POLITICS) — This week on Inside California Politics, former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra sat down with host Nikki Laurenzo to discuss his campaign for California governor.

As noted last week on the show by Politico reporter Melanie Mason, Becerra highlights his experience in executive government positions as one of his defining attributes as a candidate.

"I think right now California wants someone who knows how to deliver results, who can execute," Becerra said. "I spent the last eight years executing."

"First as attorney general for our state of California during the first Trump administration where we had to protect many of our interests. I executed every time they challenged what we were doing." Becerra said. "...As secretary of Health and Human Services, running one of the largest enterprises in the world with a budget four times the size of the state of California's... I don't think anyone can say they've run an enterprise as big as I have."

Some gubernatorial candidates have suggested that if former Vice President Kamala Harris were to enter the race, they would drop out. Becerra, who succeeded Harris as Attorney General of California in 2017, said her entry would not affect his.

"It makes no difference to me who gets in," Becerra said. "I'm in. Period."
