Trump 'constantly surrounded by chaos': Haley spokesperson

(NewsNation) — Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is trailing behind former President Donald Trump in the polls going into the South Carolina primaries, but Haley's spokesperson says she is what Americans want.

"She's fighting for the 70% of Americans who don't want another Biden-Trump matchup. We know 53% of Americans think both Donald Trump and Joe Biden are too old to serve in office. She's fighting for them," Olivia Perez-Cubas told NewsNation's "Morning in America."

Perez-Cubas believes Trump's legal fines could help Haley garner more votes, saying his presence in the courtroom is a distraction for the Republican party.

"Trump is constantly surrounded by chaos. He has spent more time in the courtroom than he has spent on the campaign trail," Perez-Cubas said.

She added, "We're talking about hundreds of millions of dollars that he owes. We found out recently that he's been using campaign donations, $50 million of campaign donations have been going to his legal fees. I mean, the list goes on and on. The RNC is broke, this is not where the Republican Party needs to be."

Trump and Haley are on the campaign trail ahead of the South Carolina primary next Saturday. Despite Haley’s home-field advantage in the primary, a poll average from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill finds her at 32.5 percent, over 30 points behind her former boss at 62.5 percent.
