Mayor Adams seeks to create 12,000 affordable housing units in NYC in 2024

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Mayor Eric Adams announced a new plan to create more affordable housing in New York City during his State of the City address on Wednesday.

Adams is seeking to advance 24 affordable housing projects on city-owned land in 2024 in his "24 in 24" plan.

The goal is to create or preserve 12,000 affordable housing units through partnerships across multiple city agencies, Adams said.

The mayor also announced the creation of a Tenant Protection Cabinet. The office would coordinate with multiple city agencies and leverage resources to protect tenants living in the five boroughs, according to Adams.
