TAMPA (WFLA) -- All but one presidential hopeful has descended on New Hampshire, vying to win the nation's first presidential primary of the 2024 election season.

The candidate missing from the Granite State? Incumbent President Joe Biden.

According to PBS News Hour, Biden, running for re-election in November, has been left off the ballot in New Hampshire due to a dispute between the DNC and New Hampshire's state legislature.

The DNC attempted to break from tradition, moving the first Democratic primary of the 2024 election season from New Hampshire to South Carolina, which propelled Biden to the Democratic nomination, and eventually the presidency, four years ago.

New Hampshire, who has it written into the state's constitution that they hold the first-in-the-nation primary event for every presidential election, refused to allow the New Hampshire primary to be held at a different time, with New Hampshire Attorney General Brendan O'Donnell filing a cease-and-desist letter against the DNC.

"No other election is taking place," New Hampshire Secretary of State David Scanlan said.

There remain 20-plus candidates running in New Hampshire's Democratic primary, most notably Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips and author Marianne Williamson.

There are also efforts from the DNC and grassroots organizers to develop a write-in campaign for President Biden; however, according to PBS, "write-in campaigns pose unique logistical challenges."

The New Hampshire Democratic primary will be held state-wide on Tuesday, Jan 23.
