Anthropic Launches Claude Enterprise Subscription Plan, Competing with OpenAI's ChatGPT

Claude Enterprise, the latest offering from Anthropic, is set to revolutionize the way businesses interact with their own corporate data. This new subscription plan allows companies to securely leverage their own data in interactions with Claude, a large language model developed by Anthropic.

Context and Competition

Claude Enterprise is a complement to Claude Work, a product aimed at small organizations. It also competes directly with OpenAI's ChatGPT Enterprise, released last year. The goal, according to Nicholas Lin, Claude Enterprise product lead, is to empower every team within an enterprise, making them the most creative and productive versions of themselves.

Key Features

Claude Enterprise boasts several key features designed to make it a powerful tool for businesses. One such feature is its expanded context window – 500,000 tokens, more than double the 200,000 previously offered. This allows for handling hundreds of sales transcripts, dozens of 100+ page documents, or 200,000 lines of code.

Dynamic Workspaces

Another notable feature is dynamic workspaces, referred to as "artifacts" by Lin. These workspaces let users see what's going on in Claude's head and iterate on outputs with Claude. Users can create data visualizations, documentation, presentations, and more using artifacts.

Lin demonstrated the use of artifacts in brainstorming sessions with Claude. For example, a marketer could create an artifact for a marketing calendar or generate content for a campaign. In sales, Claude could analyze sales data, forecast trends, and generate collateral for a sales meeting.

Granular Permissions

Claude Enterprise also features enterprise-grade security controls, including single sign-on (SSO), domain capture, and role-based access with granular permissioning. Additionally, within a few weeks, audit logs for security and compliance monitoring, automated user provisioning, and access control via SCIM will be available.

Expert Feedback

Experts in the field have welcomed Claude Enterprise as a much-needed competitor to existing AI SaaS solutions. Jeremy Roberts from Info-Tech Research Group praised Anthropic's move, saying it's high time for general-purpose AI SaaS that can compete with Microsoft Copilot.

Terra Higginson, principal research director at Info-Tech Research Group, expressed excitement about the release of Claude Enterprise but noted that the user experience will be crucial in determining its success. Many current AI systems have subpar user experiences and restrictions that discourage users from adopting them.

Availability

Claude Enterprise is available today, although pricing details were not announced by Anthropic. Each organization will receive a customized price based on their specific needs.
