TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- A Tampa Bay Rays fan is thankfully OK after he was knocked unconscious by a line drive home run during Monday's Labor Day matchup against the Minnesota Twins.
The heart-stopping moment unfolded when Twins' star Trevor Larnach launched the ball into right field where it appeared the man tried to snag the homer with his bare hands -- the ball struck him in the head instead.
A video shared with WFLA showed the aftermath of fans near the man waving and calling for medical aid to come help.
The Minnesota Twins posted a video on social media of Larnach's home run, which captured the man getting hit and falling back into his seat. Luckily, he wasn't seriously injured.
During a post-game interview with Bally Sports North, the outfielder said he was able to talk to the man and even gave him a signed bat.
"The clubbie came up to me during the game and offered me to sign a bat and I gave it to him and last inning in right field, I checked out on him 'cause they moved me from left to right and I got to talk to him. Thankfully, he's OK, but that was scary, man. I've never seen that before so good thing I got to talk to him," Larnach said.
Larnach's homer helped lift the Twins to a 5-4 Labor Day victory over the Rays. For Tampa Bay, it was the team's fourth loss in five games.
