SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Labor Day at the ballpark couldn’t have been better for Padres fans as the team beat the Tigers 3-0, with pitcher Joe Musgrove taking the win from the mound.
Fernando Tatis Jr. also made a comeback lighting up the stadium as he took the field.
The game was a two-hour-and-18-minute sprint and the temperature was a cool 77 degrees.
To top it all off, the Diamondbacks lost their game, pushing the Padres squarely into second place in the National League West, just five games back from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Now with only 22 games left in the regular season every game is critical.
Fans say as the summer winds down the nerves wind up.
“I lost my voice, good times... maybe go to the playoffs and see what happens,” said Butch, a Padres fan.
Padres play the Tigers again Wednesday and Thursday.
