NAPERVILLE, Ill. — A familiar sports face from Chicago's southwest suburbs will be featured in a Super Bowl commercial Sunday.
Owen Lindmark, a 2019 graduate of Naperville Central High School and now a standout forward for the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team, will be in an Old National Bank commercial scheduled to run before, during and after the Super Bowl, reports the Naperville Sun.
According to the Sun, the commercial will air in the Chicago and Minneapolis markets on Sunday and will expand to the Milwaukee and Minneapolis markets after that.
According to a press release from creative agency Schaefer Condon Carter, the Sun reports, the TV spot is called "Brace Yourself" and uses Old National Bank's position as the "Official Bank of the Big Ten" and Lindmark's signing of a Name, Image, Likeness deal to promote the bank's "Get Old" campaign.
Lindmark, 22, graduated from Naperville Central but grew up in different areas because his father was an Air Force officer, the Sun reports. Lindmark was a fifth-round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in 2019.
The Panthers still own Lindmark's draft rights, but he decided to hold off for another year on a potential pro career and return to UW for one more season in 2023-24 as a graduate student.
That decision has paid off, as Lindmark is tied for second in goals (11) and tied for fourth in points (21) for a Badgers team that entered this past weekend ranked No. 4 in the country by U.S. College Hockey Online before sweeping Notre Dame in a two-game Big Ten series over the weekend at the Kohl Center in Madison.
